FAQs

Can I get semi permanent makeup?

You may not have the procedure done if you are under the age of 18, pregnant or nursing, have been on prescription Accutane in the past year, are known to get keloid scars or have any irritation (rash, acne, etc) in the area to be tattooed.

*Beyond this, any and all allergies and serious medical conditions must be discussed prior to treatment, with a possible need for a consultation with your family doctor.*

What is microblading?

Microblading, also known as eyebrow feathering, is the practice of tattooing with a fine microblade fixed to a manual pen. The result is created by depositing fine lines of pigment into the skin using the blade to mimic the look of the natural hairs.

What are the pigments made of?

The pigments consist of iron oxides, which are naturally found in your body. Because of this, they will gradually be absorbed into your body, the rate at which will depend on many factors including whether or not you are anemic, iron deficient or become pregnant.

If you have an MRI in the future, you must let the technician know that you have been tattooed with iron oxide pigments.

Is it safe?

Yes, all needles are single use, individually packaged and sterile, and properly disposed of after each client. Supplies such as cotton, gauze, and applicators are single use and pre-sterilized in an autoclave. Masks and gloves are used, taking every precaution to eliminate contamination during each procedure, and the entire workspace is disinfected immediately afterward.

Is it permanent?

The tattoo will last 1-3 years depending on the skin type and care taken. It is recommended to always use sunscreen on the tattooed area to maintain the most vibrant possible pigment. The tattoo should be refreshed every 1-2 years to maintain vibrancy. Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed, as each skin type heals and holds on to pigment differently.

Why can’t it be permanent?

Because your skin elasticity and facial structure change over time, permanent eyebrows will eventually look uneven or misplaced. The slow fading of pigment over time allows for refreshed and revised tattoos to suit your face at every age. Cosmetic tattooing creates a softer, subtle, more natural look as opposed to standard body tattooing.

Does it hurt?

A strong topical anesthetic is applied 20 minutes prior, as well as throughout the procedure. The pain, if any, is very minimal. Having the procedure done during your menstrual cycle will increase sensitivity to pain.

Will microblading work for me?

If you are iron deficient, the color will fade much faster, as the ink itself is made from natural iron oxides and will be absorbed back into the body at a much quicker rate. If you have oily skin, the result may heal less sharp, and more diffused looking. Due to endless variations in skin type and other unpredictable factors, no exact end result can be 100% guaranteed.

How long does it take?

Your microblading appointment will take roughly two and a half hours. This includes the consultation where we draw on and adjust the brows as many times as we need to until you are happy with the design, 20 minutes of numbing and then the microblading.
